I am fortunate to call Northern Michigan my home and be surrounded by friends and family here in Traverse City. I have been teaching for ten years for Traverse City Area Public Schools and teach fifth grade at Central Grade Elementary. After attending Hope College and receiving a degree in Elementary Education, I moved back to Traverse and got a teaching job as a computer lab instructor for grades K-6. This position really allowed me to experience each of the grade levels and during this process, I found my teaching preference to be upper elementary, and I love being able to integrate technology into my classroom to enhance my teaching and student learning.

My husband and I have an amazing little three year old daughter. Gretchen (Gretty) is at such an awesome age and we enjoy our time together as family. We take advantage of what northern Michigan has to offer and spend time outside sledding and skiing during the winter months and boating, swimming, and playing at parks during the summer months. We love to read together and I am always amazed at how much a toddler knows! We feel very lucky to have our parents here, as well as my two older sisters and their families. We spend a lot of family time together and have a wonderful group of friends by whom we are surrounded. My family has been an incredible support system throughout my educational journey, especially as I have taken courses to complete my Masters in Educational Technology (MAET). I would not be where I am today if it weren't for their love, support, and encouragement.
